About Blu
Blu was an Italian telecommunications company. The company was founded on 19 April 1999 thanks to a partnership between Società Autostrade (through Sitec, 32%), British Telecom (20%), Benetton (through the financial company Edizione Holding, 9%), Mediaset (9%), Distacom ( 9%), BNL (7%), Italgas (7%), Caltagirone (7%) and Palatinus. On 6 August 2002 the board of directors gave the green light to the break-up of the company, opting for the sale of the customer base (4% of the Italian market) and the brand to Wind, of the mobile telephone systems to TIM, Wind and Vodafone Omnitel, of the share capital to TIM and of other business branches to 3 Italy. Blu turned off his signal on October 8, 2002, definitively disappearing from the world of telecommunications.
