GeneArt provides key technologies for Synthetic Biology projects for example for the construction of bacteria which produce complex biopolymers such as biofuels or organisms which degrade environmental toxins. Furthermore the company contributes key technologies necessary to develop and produce new therapeutics and vaccines. Customers also rely on GeneArt services to improve enzymes, such as the ones used as additives in detergents. GeneArt was awarded the worldwide largest gene synthesis contract for the completion of the „Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC) Program“ by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition, GeneArt produced subgenomic elements for the construction of the first syntheticbacterial genome by the J. Craig Venter Institute.
