Pedestal is an Internet-based secondary mortgage market trading exchange through its proprietary Web-based platform, pedestal.com, which handles a variety of mortgage loan products. The company's interactive exchange site has on average more than $250 million in mortgage pools available for purchase at any one time. Since January 1999, more than $1.4 billion in mortgages have been posted for sale at the Pedestal site. In addition to providing buyers and sellers a cost-effective opportunity to review and transact loan offerings interactively, the Web-based platform includes analytical tools that enable users to assess prepayment and collateral risks embedded in the loan packages helping to make a well informed decision quickly.
