Precision I/O was spun out from Packet Design LLC, the fourth networking technology company founded by longtime technology entrepreneurs Judy Estrin and Bill Carrico. The Estrin-Carrico team had previously founded Bridge Communications, Network Computing Devices and Precept Software. Estrin served as chief technology officer at Cisco Systems from 1998 to 2000.
