PROTEUS is an EU-funded project aiming to launch the world’s first industrial-scale biorefinery for brown seaweeds in Norway. The initiative uses innovative technology to sustainably transform the entire biomass’maximizing resource use from just 15% to 100%’into valuable ingredients for food, feed, personal care, and industrial applications. It focuses on chemical-free processing and eco-friendly practices, with the goal of supporting Europe’s climate objectives and scaling the blue bioeconomy.
