About Carleton College
Carleton is a private liberal arts college with a strong reputation for academic excellence. Carleton College delivers the traditional liberal arts experience and then some, with committed faculty who encourage class discussion and individualized learning in small classes. The college offers undergraduate academics leading to a BA. Over 35 majors are available, but you can design your own major with the assistance of a faculty advisor. In addition to these majors, Carleton students with multiple interests can choose from more than 15 concentrations. While some are broad in scope, Carleton’s concentrations are typically in more specialized subjects, such as Medieval and Renaissance Studies. About 90% of Carleton College students live on campus, resulting in vibrant residential life. Student life at Carleton provides a number of ways to get involved, from arts and athletics to community service and sustainability. Carleton’s admissions committee looks for students who demonstrate individuality as well as academic excellence. Active participation in extracurricular activities is essential, as the college seeks students with passionate interests. Need-based financial aid is abundant at Carleton College. Most financial aid packages include an institutional scholarship, a student loan and student employment. Make sure you file a FAFSA to determine your eligibility for need-based aid.
