About Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is a historical site that combines the power of art with the natural beauty. The building's name is derived from a nearby natural spring and the bridge construction, both of which were designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie. Galleries, meeting and classroom spaces, and a large, glass-enclosed gathering hall are housed in a series of pavilions nestled around two spring-fed ponds. A restaurant (Eleven) and Coffee Bar on a glass-enclosed bridge overlooking the ponds, a Museum Store designed by architect Marlon Blackwell, and a library with over 50,000 volumes of art reference material are among the guest amenities. Crystal Bridges offers year-round programming for people of all ages, including lectures, performances, classes, and continuing education for teachers in grades K-12. More than 50,000 schoolchildren visit the museum each year as part of the Willard and Pat Walker School Visit Program, which offers schools reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses associated with a school field trip, including transportation costs, substitute teachers, and lunch. A project is currently underway to create high-quality online learning opportunities for students and teachers.
