Its registered office is in Turin, Italy; in fact, "Fiat" stands for "Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino." In 2009, it completed the acquisition of Chrysler Group. In 2014, Fiat Group and Chrysler Group merged, creating Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).
