Students seeking aviation training at one of the largest pilot training organizations in the country should consider the FlightSafety International Academy in Vero Beach, Florida. The school aims to prepare pilots for first officer and copilot positions through safety and proficiency programs. The campus is located on the Vero Beach Municipal Airport and contains its own FAA control tower. Students have easy access to several major airports in the surrounding area, including Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and West Palm Beach. Student life in Vero Beach provides numerous recreational opportunities. Whether you want to catch some waves, soak up the sun or check out the marine life in the coral reefs just off the coastline, the quaint beach town has activities for you. Academics at the academy include pilot training programs with components of instruction in: * Fixed-Wing Conversion * Multi-Engine, Instrument and Commercial Flying * Airline Transport Piloting Admissions require students to submit an official high school transcript, seven-year driving record, a copy of FAA 1st Class Student Pilot Medical and copies of student pilot or flight certificates. The academy does not offer scholarships, but a number of outside aviation organizations make them available, including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Ninety-Nines, Leroy Homer Foundation and more. Other forms of financial aid include veteran’s assistance programs.
