Ranked high by numerous college guidebooks, Florida Southern College offers more than just strong academics. At Florida Southern, students also learn through numerous learning and work opportunities beyond the classroom. Located in Lakeland, Florida, Florida Southern College offers over 50 undergraduate majors. Fields of study include Advertising, Art History, Communications, Computer Science, Criminology, English, Environmental Studies, Horticulture, Music, Psychology, Finance, Education and a range of pre-professional programs in the medical, legal, engineering and religious fields. Graduate programs are available in Teaching, Business and Nursing. Unique to Florida Southern College are the opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Alongside faculty, students undertake research in such fields as chemistry, education, math and athletic sciences. Another way that Florida Southern provides chances to learn outside of the classroom is through internships and service learning opportunities. Through such assignments, students are given the chance to work within their field and gain and build on skills while making professional contacts. With over 70 clubs and student organizations, which include leadership programs, service opportunities, creative and academic clubs, religious organizations and Greek life, the student life at Florida Southern also helps students to expand and grow. Admissions standards at Florida Southern are somewhat competitive. Eligible students may receive some form of aid including scholarships, grants, loans and work-study awards, which can be used to help cover tuition.
