About Galveston College
Galveston College offers comprehensive training and academics for students with various interest areas and from all backgrounds and educational levels. Located on Galveston Island, approximately one hour outside of Houston, Galveston’s associate degree programs encompass the arts and humanities, sciences, business and technology, computer sciences, culinary arts, hospitality and medical careers. Admission to Galveston is open to all students who have a diploma or GED. However, those who do not meet this qualification may register at Galveston for developmental classes before enrolling in credit programs. In keeping with its commitment to offering diverse programs to a diverse student body, Galveston also offers comprehensive training and classes through its continuing education division. Among them are motorcycle safety courses, a culinary arts institute, a computer training program, a division for medical careers and a language institute. Online as well as on-site classes and certifications are available. Among other offerings, Galveston’s student life provides career development and counseling as well as academic assistance and support. Tuition at Galveston is significantly lower for in-state residents. Financial aid is offered through scholarships, grants, loans, work-study and Veteran’s benefits to those who qualify.
