Hamsin Wind installs small, community based, single onshore wind turbines in high wind speed locations across the UK with a particular focus on the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The company gives farmers and landowners an opportunity to install small single wind turbines on their properties and to benefit from discounted power charges for 20 years and beyond. The small scale turbines are sympathetic with rural landscapes and connected to the grid. They can be installed swiftly and are subject to a relatively straightforward planning process. Hamsin has the potential to save over 5,000 tonnes per year of CO2 or over 100,000 tonnes over the life of the turbines – equivalent to taking emissions from 20,000 cars off the road. The company works with development partners Hadrian Electrical and Mistral Energy.
