About Medical Device Works
Medical Device Works has developed a disposable system which allows the necessary chemo therapy dosage increase in the liver while protecting the other organs. Chemotherapy provokes severe side effects such as hair loss, vomiting, and fatigue. It’s intended purpose of killing the cancer cells is not efficient for the treatment of organ-specific cancer metastases (like liver, lungs etc.). Medical Device Works (MDW) pioneers the development of minimally invasive catheter-based devices that permit to administer chemotherapy locally, only to the affected organ, and in the high concentrations needed to fully kill the cancer cells. Simultaneously, the catheters close-off temporarily the blood flow to “isolate” the organ so that the drug does not spill into other parts of the body, thus avoiding undesirable side effects.
