Missouri State University, located in Springfield, is a public university established in 1905. It houses approximately 1,300 students from different countries and allows hundreds of students to participate in study abroad programs. The school has a unique admissions process. If students meet the entire core curriculum and have one of the following, then they will be automatically admitted to Missouri State University: ACT score of 24 or higher, SAT score of 1090 or higher, a 3.5 GPA or a class rank in the top 25 percent. Students who are over 22 and have never attended a college or university are exempt from these requirements. The application deadlines for each semester are the same dates every year: the Fall Semester deadline is July 20, Spring Semester deadline is December 20, and the Summer Semester deadline is May 20. The application fee is $35, and students applying after the deadline date will have to pay an additional $25, and will not be able to register for classes until the Thursday or Friday before classes begin. Missouri State houses over 300 student organizations which are grouped into eight categories: Academic, Greek, Honorary, Service, Social, Sports and University. It also offers over 150 undergraduate majors and over 45 graduate programs.
