About Rural Farmers Hub
Rural Farmers Hub tackles the urgent challenges of climate change and declining soil quality in Nigeria, where over 60% of the population relies on agriculture’primarily smallholder farming. Climate change has caused severe soil degradation, resulting in droughts, floods, and extreme erosion, which have led to reduced crop yields, higher production costs, and increased food insecurity. Our comprehensive ecosystem approach equips farmers with sustainable practices, climate-resilient solutions, and advanced soil health management tools to boost productivity while minimising environmental impact. To address the challenges of soil degradation and climate change, we provide an innovative solution that combines cutting-edge AI-powered satellite technology for precise soil testing with personalised farming recommendations, delivered via USSD, SMS and app platforms. This ensures that farmers, regardless of their tech access, receive actionable insights to improve soil quality and increase crop yields. We leverage observation satellite to visit each farm every week, ensuring that farmers receive continuous, real-time updates on their soil and crop conditions. Through our AI-powered agronomist, which is powered by large language models (LLMs), we provide personalised soil and crop insights, offering farmers tailored advice as if an actual agronomist were visiting their farm weekly to discuss and advise on best practices. This approach is scalable and accessible. We currently cover 100,000+ farmers in Nigeria and nearly 1 million more across Africa, enabling us to reach a broad network of smallholder farmers with precise and actionable recommendations. We also provide affordable, eco-friendly inputs like biofertilizers and biochar, which help restore soil health and reduce reliance on harmful chemicals. In addition, our commitment to promoting sustainable practices, such as regenerative agriculture, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ensures long-term benefits for both farmers and the environment by safeguarding biodiversity and preserving natural habitats. Through this comprehensive approach, we empower farmers to enhance productivity, increase income, and contribute to a more resilient and sustainable agricultural system.
