About Shopmobility Stockport
Shopmobility Stockport is a community mobility service based at Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport, Greater Manchester. The scheme provides free daily access to mobility scooters and wheelchairs for individuals with limited mobility, enabling them to shop, dine, and navigate the town centre with ease. Relaunched in June 2025 with funding from Stockport Council, the service operates seven days a week on a first-come, first-served basis and is part of a broader initiative to improve accessibility and inclusion across the town. All equipment is fully insured, safe, and easy to operate, and the service aligns with the mission of ShopMobility UK, a national network dedicated to enhancing independence for people with restricted mobility. The return of Shopmobility complements recent upgrades at Merseyway, including new public toilets, changing facilities, and a prayer room, reinforcing Stockport’s commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive destination.
