About SlateState
More and more schools are replacing textbooks with tablet devices. SlateState aims to provide teachers with the real-time dashboard that they need to teach in the classroom of the future. Their API [application programming interface] provides an always-on connection between students and teachers, improving the classroom experience and enabling a new generation of connected classroom apps. Their business model is based around licensing their API to publishers and app developers, while providing a basic teacher dashboard for free. They are developers with a passion for EdTech who have a vision of tablet devices being in the hands of every student in every classroom. The founders first worked together as developers in AOL 12 years ago. Since then, Neil Buckley has built several systems for the education market and solutions for many top brands, while Rodhán Hickey has worked on several internationally successful software products and until recently was lead developer of Microsoft’s Education Products Group in Dublin.
