About Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, Cumberland
The Cumberland location serves as Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College’s main campus. Founded in 1960, it was SKCTC’s first location, and has grown since then to include four additional satellite campuses throughout southeastern Kentucky. A two-year college, SKCTC awards certificates, diplomas, and associate’s degrees. Altogether its academics include over 50 programs, 30 of which are vocational. Whether you want to study liberal arts or machine tool technology, SKCTC has a program to meet your needs. Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is also committed to the preservation of local history and culture. The Godbey Appalachian Center houses SKCTC’s Appalachian Program, which organizes cultural events for the Cumberland community and maintains the Appalachian Archives. The Center also certificate programs in Appalachian Studies and Historic Information Management. Despite being a commuter college, student life at Southeast offers a variety of student clubs and activities, including intramural sports. The school does not offer housing, but the Cumberland campus offers some dining services. SKCTC strives to make education affordable for everyone, and offers a variety of financial aid opportunities. Scholarships and federal grants are available, as well as veteran’s benefits.
