About Symbian Foundation
The Symbian Foundation is an open source, non-profit operating system for mobile devices, founded by Sony Ericsson, NTT DOCOMO, Nokia, Texas Instruments, Vodafone, Samsung, ST Ericsson and AT&T. Current board members also include Fujitsu Limited and Qualcomm Innovation Center. The Symbian Foundation was formed to steward the Symbian platform, which is based on Symbian OS, an operating system for mobile phones that had previously been owned by Nokia and licensed by Symbian Ltd, as well as software contributed by Sony Ericsson and NTT DOCOMO.
