About The Grandparent Caregivers Center
The Grandparent Caregivers Center, Inc., is a non-profit organization mainly composed of grandparents raising their grandchildren, doing this on a fixed income, with little or no financial support or legal custody. We are organizing to bring about community-wide awareness of the escalating crime and violence in Newark, N.J. We want to let everyone know that we are planning to make changes in the way our cases are presented in the courts and the dissatisfaction we face when the children's human rights are totally ignored and dismissed. We will do whatever we have to do to encourage and motivate our grandchildren not to give in to what society calls them. A lot of them have been abandoned, neglected, abused physically, mentally and spiritually, and many are forced to live destructive environments. We have planned a structured educational and skill training environment that will prepare them and guide them to making better life choices and live productive lives.
