About The Working Centre
The Working Centre was founded in the spring of 1982 to address unemployment and poverty in downtown Kitchener. Joe and Stephanie Mancini, a young married couple who had recently graduated from St. Jerome's College at the University of Waterloo, were the driving force behind the Centre's establishment in downtown Kitchener. They saw the possibility for forming a community of interest around addressing unemployment and poverty, creating social analysis, and taking creative action.
