About University of Göttingen
The University of Göttingen is an internationally renowned research university with a long tradition. Founded in 1737 in the Age of Enlightenment, it feels committed to the values of social responsibility of science, democracy, tolerance and justice. In 2003, it was the first full university in Germany to be transferred to the sponsorship of a foundation under public law. With 13 faculties, it covers a diverse range of subjects in the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as medicine. Around 30,000 students are spread over more than 210 courses.
